Change.

By definition, change means: The act or instance of making or becoming different.

I am not a fan of change, at least when it's out of my control. But even when I am the one deciding to make a change, to make something different I still get nervous. And I would assume that a lot of people do, but I have resolved to embrace change to the best of my ability. To not be afraid of messing up or disappointing someone because of a choice I make for myself. The only way I will learn is if I start to make decisions for me, and not just to please everyone else.

So here I go, embracing change and learning to be okay in the moment, because today has enough trouble and adventure of its own!

Lyrics of the day

Album Cover of "Little Hell" by City and Colour

So bright, the flames burned in our hearts, That we found each other in the dark. Like beasts out in the wilderness We are fighting to survive and convalesce.

A New February 15th Tradition!

11 Boxes of Chocolate with 119 pieces,
3 candy bars, 1 card, 1 Fundip, 2 lip balms
and a Spongebob candy shish kebab.

Me and my friend Stacey decided that we would go on a hunt to get gourmet chocolate the day after Valentine's hoping it would be on sale... we were right! We went to Walmart, CVS, Walgreens and Target in Edmond and found some awesome deals! So many things were half price and some things were even marked as low as 50 cents! Here is the break down!

Original price: $63.71
We paid a total of: $37.94
Individually spent: $18.97

Overall we had a great time, we met some older ladies who were doing the same thing as we were, we told them where to find the good deals and joked with them. It was a odd sense of camaraderie we had with them, all for the sake of buying cheap chocolate!

We both agreed that this had to be a new tradition and that next year we would have more of our friends join us! And try the same trick after other Holidays! (except Thanksgiving, no Black Friday shopping please!)

Better watch out chocolate bunnies... we're coming for ya!!

Okie Funk Has Got Me Thinking...

The writer of the well known blog Okie Funk Kurt Hochenauer came to my class and spoke with us about his blog; the good, the bad and some of the ugly of being a highly involved blogger.

One of the main things that got me thinking was that his blog is a liberal blog and that was one of the reasons his blog stood out so much...

Which got me thinking... am I Liberal or Conservative? Or somewhere in between?

This question got me on a search for unbiased information.... Which is hard to find... I resolved to just go to each sides site to see what each side really feels.. these are what I found!

www.conservative.org  and www.addictinginfo.org

After looking around on them I'm still not sure where I stand, but if I had to guess I'd say I'm Moderate.

I'm glad Kurt came to our class because not only did he encourage us, but after hearing him talk I realized how important it is to say what you think is true and go with it... even when it's opposed.

Lyrics for the day.

Lights album cover for Siberia

"It's around me in my surroundings
It counts me when it starts the counting
In the chaos there is a standard
I'm carrying it like a banner"

-Lyrics from Banner by Lights

Truth.

The truth hurts sometimes...
It hurts the most when we didn't realize something was true and we're told it is.
Painful truth is pretty unexpected, but if you think about those times in your life,
those are the times we learn the most about who we truly are.
Because the truth giver may hurt us by telling the truth, the truth may hurt us.
But in the middle of that pain,
we dig somewhere inside ourselves and learn about who we are by how we react.
So like I said, the truth hurts sometimes, but at the end of it...
we learn to grow.

Like Clockwork, We Begin...

Album cover for Storyboards, by Sleeping At Last
"Still unsatisfied,
We chase what we're denied.
As generations wait,
We can't resist the taste of possibility.
Gears turn, endlessly,
To bring us back to life again.
Like clockwork, we begin."

(Lyrics from Clockwork by Sleeping At Last)

It makes you think doesn't it? We're always chasing something, a desire, to achieve a goal, we seek a way to get what we want because there is a part of us that "can't resist the taste of possibility." In a way these lyrics make me feel hopeful, because it's like we are all waiting to chase our dreams.... But maybe what we should be thinking is:

What is holding us back from chasing our dreams now?
